The Canary Islands MICE Industry Association (Canarias MICE) launched this month is born with the major ambition of championing and promoting the best standards of industry practice on the Canary Islands.
The nine founding members including TenTravel DMC have clearly defined four operating principles that members will be required to adhere to: transparency, fairness, responsibility and safety.
The first Chairman of the Association is Mauricio Alemán from Insuite; “We represent an absolutely transversal tourism segment which generates business opportunities from hotel chains to small craftsmen and from large purpose built venues to restaurant outlets. We deserve a professional representation on the Canary Islands and are confident that our work with government authorities will improve the options for MICE operators on the islands as well as increase the options for our clients. We aim to make the Canary Islands an even better platform to create memorable events”.
TenTravel DMC is represented in the association by Marcos Albornoz van Aken, Director Sales & Operations MICE. “We have ceased the opportunity of constituting an association which has no precedent in Spain and we are confident we can lead the way for others in our field across the country. It is paramount that regional authorities understand the value of MICE, a segment where participants typically contribute more than three times the amount of revenue per visit than leisure tourists”.
