It is Jurassic park without the dinosaurs!!! An abrupt geography of deep gorges and valleys with an unbelievably green, lush interior and a network of trekking trails attracting prominent walkers such as Mrs. Angela Merkel herself.
Facts & Figures
The second smallest of the islands (370km2) it lies 28km from the south coast of Tenerife and is easily accessible by ferry (there is also a small airport which could be catalogued as the quaintest in the world!). The Garajonay National Park dominates the interior of the national park as a UNESCO Biosphere site while its coastal areas lie at the end of magnificent palm tree lined valleys. La Gomera is a synonym for traditions, never better expressed by its defence of “El Silbo” gomero; a technique which reproduces the Spanish language by means of a series of whistles it is also taught in schools and appears in numerous local fiestas . A true cultural phenomenon.
